Wekiwa Springs State Park is in Apopka, in Orange County, about 45 minutes from Winter Garden. The spring stays 72°F year-round, so it's good any time of year.
We stayed at campsite 44. It was a nice site with 30 amp hookups and a short walk to the bathrooms and showers.
Wekiwa has a nice public swimming area with water temps in the 70s. A short walk from the main swimming area there's a small gift shop with some essentials, plus kayak rentals. The kayak launch is right there, and you can take a short kayak trip to Wekiva Island, which has food and bars.

Wekiwa also has hiking, fishing and a nice spring to relax in. Great spot to enjoy Florida nature.
Our tips
- Pack swimsuits. The spring is the main event.
- Rent a kayak at the launch and paddle to Wekiva Island for lunch.
A simple weekend
- Day 1. Set up at the site. Swim at the spring.
- Day 2. Kayak to Wekiva Island for lunch. Go for a hike or fish before you head home.
