Ginnie Springs: our favorite Florida spot so far

On the way home from Blue Ridge, we pulled into Ginnie Springs in High Springs. About two hours from Winter Garden. Our favorite Florida spot so far.

Our site
We stayed at campsite 7: 30-amp and water hookups, bathrooms a short walk away. Lots of tree cover — Starlink was spotty under the canopy, but the shade was nice.

The springs
Seven natural springs run along the river, and the water stays 72°F year-round. Crystal clear. You can float the river by inner tube or kayak (rentals at the General Store), and the campsites are a short walk to the springs.

On the water
There are volleyball courts and grills on site. It's well lit at night, so it feels safe and easy to walk around after dark. And when you're ready, pull over and pour over — or just paddle.

Our tips
- Bring a tube or kayak — or rent one on site. Floating the river is the main event.
- Expect shade. Lovely for heat, less lovely for satellite internet.
- An easy overnight on the drive between Winter Garden and North Georgia.
A simple stop
- Arrive. Check in at site 7, plug into 30 amp, and walk the short path to the springs.
- Float. Tube or kayak the clear 72°F water. Grill or play volleyball back at camp.
- Evening. The grounds are well lit — easy to wander after dark.
